Burnley boss feared for his players due to fan trouble at Blackburn Rovers

Burnley boss Sead Dyche has admitted that he was concerned over his player’s safety after two Blackburn Rovers’ fans confronted them while celebrating the opening goal of the Carabao Cup game last night.

Burnley clinched a 2-0 victory over the Rovers in the Lancashire derby, but the game was marred by incidents from both set of supporters.

Dyche had watched the incident unveil in front of him as two fans charged towards his players following the first goal. Clarets skipper James Tarkowski was pushed in the chest by one supporter whilst the other appeared to grab Ashley Westwood by the throat before a melee broke up from both set of supporters.

Speaking after the world, Dyche insisted that the stewardship was amateurish whilst questioning how the fans were allowed to reach his players without any intervention, he said: “There used to be a time, when I was playing, that if people got onto a football pitch it was a bit of a joke, a little bit silly. But there are now different things going on in the world, when people get onto a football pitch they need to be stopped. BLACKBURN ROVERS RELEASE EIGHT PLAYERS

Blackburn Rovers have release eight players from the team, according to the updated retained list of players on the club’s official website.

Upon the relegation to the League One, this was expected. The skipper of the side Jason Lowe is the obvious missing name on the retained list.

The 25-year old joined the club academy far back in 2003. The versatile player who plays at the right back and central midfield leaves Ewood Park with his 200 senior appearances.

Other first team regular that were cut off from the Lancashire based side are Hope Akpan, Wes Brown, Gordon Greer and Danny Guthrie. Others whose contracts expired but would not be renewed are Joshua Askew, Adam Henley, and Ramirez Howarth. The club preferred to keep youngster Connor Mahoney and defender Lewis Travis with the hope that they would help them in the League One. Continue reading BLACKBURN ROVERS RELEASE EIGHT PLAYERS

Owen Coyle Wants New Players in Order to Help Fight off Relegation

Blackburn manager Owen Coyle is under no illusion that the club is under desperate need of new faces in the squad in order to improve results.

The club are in the relegation zone even after bringing in the former Burnley boss in the summer. Even though the club has brought in names like Danny Graham and Anthony Stokes this season, they are yet to spend any money on transfers. Lack of interest from owners, Venky’s Group, has led to the manager biding his time with free transfers and loan deal. However, it has not helped the club in any regard.

A 1-1 draw with Birmingham City meant that the club stayed in the relegation zone. After going winless since November, Blackburn finally managed to get some positivity under the build after a 1-0 surprise win over highflying Newcastle United at home. Yet, they have not been able to build on this success after a loss against Ipswich Town and this latest draw against Birmingham. Gary Boyd has dismissed fact about Jordan Rhodes

Blackburn manager Gary Boyd has dismissed solutions that the club has received an offer for star striker Jordan Rhodes.

The club has been holding their hands about the future of the star striker. Rhodes has been linked heavily with a move to Middlesbrough, who just narrowly missed out on a promotion spot to the Premier League. Still just 25 years old, the Scottish international is at the prime of his career and will fetch significantly more than the £ 8 million at Blackburn paid for him a few years ago. After all, Rhodes has been the main goal scorer for Blackburn in the last couple of years.

Bowyer says that the club are quite relaxed about the situation because they know that a player like Rhodes will always attract attention. Last season, the striker came up with 21 goals in the league. It has taken his Blackburn career tally to 79. While Blackburn may see any offer from a Premier League club difficult to resist, the idea of being able to prevent Rhodes joining a Championship club may be seen as a possibility. It, however, depends upon Blackburn’s ability to challenge at least for a play-off place. Middlesbrough are one of the favourites to get promotion next season.
