Jordan Spence would be spending a few days training with Blackburn Rovers. The Blue and Whites’ manager, Gary Bowyer, wants to have a look at him. If he gets impressed by the young defender, he would offer him a contract.
Spence had been a West Ham United player for the last 7 years, but, he hardly featured for the Irons in this period of time. He played only 7 league matches for them. He spent a large part of his tenure playing for other clubs on loan.
The Englishman is out of contract at West Ham now which means that he is available for free.
According to the reports, Spence would make an appearance for the Rovers in their friendly match against Bury FC next week. His performance in that match will be under the scrutiny.
Meanwhile, the Rovers are finding themselves in trouble ahead of the pre season. Six-seven players in their camp are ill at the moment. They are believed to have an upset stomach. There is a big possibility that they would be missing the game against Bury.
Gary Bowyer told the reporters yesterday about the chaos created in the Rovers’ camp because of illness.
In the words of Bowyer, “Some of the boys are struggling with a bit of stomach problem. I think six or seven are suffering from it and they are likely to be out on Wednesday. It’s blessing in disguise you can say because you can test your youngsters out in such situations.”
After the Bury game, the Rovers would play one more pre-season game i.e., against Stoke City on Sunday.
In their first championship game of the 2014-15 Season, the Rovers would be facing Cardiff City on their home ground on the 8th of August.
