BLACKBURN SET TO SIGN DEFENDER ON A FREE

Blackburn Rovers have experienced a good season by their standards as the club has managed to stay clear of the relegation zone. Sitting 17th on the league table 11 points of the relegation places the club is looking ahead to next season.

According to news from England Blackburn are set to sign Charlton Athletic defender Patrick Bauer on a free transfer at the end of the season. Rovers have struggled at the back this season as injuries to key defenders Darragh Lehinan and Charlie Mulgrew has affected the club in recent weeks.
Manager Tony Mowbray is keen on signing a quality addition to the defence and Bauer has been earmarked as a key target for the summer. Bauer has been impressive during his time at Charlton Athletic as the German is one of the consistent defenders for the club.

The 26-year-old contract expires in the summer and he is reportedly weighing his future at the club as he looks to play at a higher level next season. Charlton are in the playoff places in League One and the club are hopeful of retaining his services if they can make it to the Championship next season.

The German defender has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season for the Addicks.

Bauer is no stranger to being linked with the club as there were rumours about a potential transfer last summer. The defender stands at over 6ft tall and would provide height to the backline and is equally good in tackling.

Blackburn manager sees his transfer as a no-brainer and the Championship side are ready to offer him good wages to sway his mind in making the transfer in the summer.  His arrival is expected to be the first of many as Blackburn look to launch a promotional bid next season.
