BLACKBURN FA CUP OPPONENTS REVEALED

Blackburn Rovers have known their opponents in the third round of the FA Cup, the most prestigious cup competition. Blackburn Rovers found out about their FA Cup third round opponents after the draw was made earlier this week.

At the end of the draw, Blackburn Rovers were given an away game againstWiganAthletic for a place in the fourth round of the competition. WiganAthletic are now in League One, the third tier of club football in England.

Blackburn Rovers fans are expected to travel the short distance to face WiganAthletic in their thousands when FA Cup third round hostilities resume as from the 7th of next month. The third round fixtures will start on Friday, January 7 and end on Monday, January 11.

Several Lancashire teams are in the FA Cup third round and Blackburn Rovers are one of those teams. Apart from Blackburn Rovers, other Lancashire teams such as Morecambe, Burnley, Preston North End and Blackpool are also in the last 64 as far as this season’s FA Cup is concerned.

Morecambe are one of the biggest gainers at the end of the FA Cup third round draw after the League One after they were given a glamorous tie away to Italian tactician Antonio Conte and his Tottenham Hotspur side. On their part, Premier League club Burnley will play hosts to Huddersfield Town for a place in the round of 32 in the FA Cup, while Blackpool are away to Hartlepool United.

Premier League outfit Leicester City are the defending champion after they saw off Chelsea in the final last season. The Foxes beat Chelsea 1-0 in last season’s final to win the competition for the first time. Belgian midfielder YouriTielemans was the matchwinner after he scored the only goal of the game in the second half. Leicester City will take on fellow Premier League team Watford at the start of their FA Cup title defence.
