GALLAGHER DOUBTFUL FOR FULHAM CLASH

Blackburn Rovers are sweating on the fitness of striker Sam Gallagher ahead of the visit of Fulham on Wednesday night. The Cottagers are guests of Blackburn Rovers in the Championship later this week and the home team could be without Gallagher who was forced off with an injury during the closing stages of the win at Derby County over the weekend.

Gallagher was a major casualty from the Derby County game which ended in a 2-1 win for Blackburn Rovers.

Blackburn Rovers star Gallagher has scored five goals for his team this season. Strikers Tyrhys Dolan, Ben Bereton Diaz and Gallagher account for 84% of the goals at Blackburn Rovers this season. The absence of Gallagher could be important to the outcome of the game with Fulham with the two teams eyeing a place in the top six this season. While a play-off spot would be more than acceptable at Blackburn Rovers this season, a top-two spot is the main target at Fulham this season. The Cottagers were one of the three teams demoted from the Premier League at the end of last season. Sheffield United and West Brom were the other two teams who suffered relegation from the top flight.

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray gave an injury update on Gallagher shortly after the Derby County game. According to him, Gallagher won’t have left the game if not for the injury he picked up as he expressed doubts about his involvement for the Fulham game.

Mowbray said that Gallagher would be given every chance of being fit for the Fulham game and that he would be ready for the weekend if he can make the Fulham game this midweek.

Blackburn Rovers are on a two-match winning run and they are one point off the playoff spot. On their part, Fulham have scored 13 goals over their last four games which all ended in a win.
