BLACKBURN BID REJECTED FOR BARNSLEY STAR

English Championship side Blackburn Rovers reportedly had a bid turned down for Barnsleymidfielder Callum Styles. This is according to the report from the stables of The Sun which claimed that Blackburn Rovers and other teams wanted to sign the young Barnsley midfielder during the winter transfer window only for them to meet a no-sale stance on the part of Barnsley mainly due to the preference of the player.

It was revealed that Styles was keen to continue his club career with the Tykes as he wanted to help the club in the fight to beat relegation. At the moment, Barnsley are third from bottom on the English Championship log and they are on course to drop down to League One alongside the bottom two teams namely Derby County and Peterborough United. MONEY DOESN’T GUARANTEE SUCCESS – MOWBRAY

Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray is of the school of thought that money doesn’t guarantee success as his team continues to exceed expectations in the English Championship this season. The Blackburn Rovers boss talked about money in relation to the fight for Premier League promotion during his pre-match presser ahead of the league game with Welsh team Swansea City on Saturday evening as he called on his players to focus on the task at hand which is to secure one of the two automatic spots on offer for next season’s Premier League campaign.

It is common knowledge to Mowbray and his counterparts in the Championship that the top two teams will secure promotion to the English top flight automatically, while the next four teams fight it out for the third and last promotion slot through the playoffs.

BLACKBURN KNOCKED OUT OF FA CUP

Premier League promotion chasers Blackburn Rovers have been eliminated from this season’s FA Cup at the third round stage after they ended on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller despite taking the lead. The English Championship giants were knocked out by Wigan Athletic.

The FA Cup third round tie between hosts Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers was a duel between one of the pacesetters in League One and one of the pacesetters in the Championship. Wigan Athletic are one of the leading teams in the third tier of English football and they are perfectly placed to make an assault on promotion to the Championship, while Blackburn Rovers are presently second on the Championship table and in one of the two automatic promotion slots for the Premier League.

Blackburn Rovers have known their opponents in the third round of the FA Cup, the most prestigious cup competition. Blackburn Rovers found out about their FA Cup third round opponents after the draw was made earlier this week.

At the end of the draw, Blackburn Rovers were given an away game againstWiganAthletic for a place in the fourth round of the competition. WiganAthletic are now in League One, the third tier of club football in England.

GALLAGHER DOUBTFUL FOR FULHAM CLASH

Blackburn Rovers are sweating on the fitness of striker Sam Gallagher ahead of the visit of Fulham on Wednesday night. The Cottagers are guests of Blackburn Rovers in the Championship later this week and the home team could be without Gallagher who was forced off with an injury during the closing stages of the win at Derby County over the weekend.

CHILE WORLD CUP HOPES IN TATTERS

Chile face a big hurdle in their quest to secure a place amongst the 32 teams for next year’s FIFA World Cup tournament on Qatari soil after the latest defeat in the South American qualifiers. The Chileans were beaten 2-0 by hosts Peru in their latest qualifying duel and the result has left them with a lot to do in the bid to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar at the end of next year.

Two-time Copa America winners Chile have had an underwhelming 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign till date and that prompted the appointment of Martin Lasarte as new manager in place of Reinaldo Rueda. Lasarte became the Chilean senior national team manager in March but results have not changed much under him in the six qualifiers played since then. BLACKBURN IN STALEMATE AT BORO

Blackburn Roversresponded well to their first defeat of the season in the English Championship following the stalemate with Middlesbrough in their latest league encounter. The former Premier League champions were able to recover from the 2-1 loss at home to former leaders West Brom with a battling 1-1 draw at the home of Boro.

 

Hosts Middlebrough went behind after 17 minutes thanks to the goal from Sam Gallagher who has been very impressive for Blackburn Rovers since the new season started last month. Blackburn Rovers kept the home team at bay until nine minutes from the break when midfielder Jonny Howson levelled proceedings. BLACKBURN JOIN RACE TO SIGN UNITED STARLET THIS SUMMER

Manchester United youngster Brandon Williams may be forced to seal a loan switch away from the club unless he wants to be comfortable being called upon for only Cup games or when there’s an injury to any player that plays in the same position as him at Old Trafford. He has been told by United manager Olé Gunnar Solksjær that he is an important player for the club and will spend a couple of years at Old Trafford but he first needs to enjoy a run of games and going out on loan is already the best option for him to choose this season.

Southampton were the front-runners trying to sign the young versatile defender this summer but they were let off by the transfer amount United were asking for. The Saints were also told that they would be paying the player’s salary so they immediately rejected the offer as they tried to focus on other new faces that would be coming to the club instead.

BERETON SCORES FRIST GOAL FOR CHILE

Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Bereton opened his account for Chile after he scored the only goal of the game during the Copa America clash with Bolivia on Friday night. The Blackburn Rovers player was able to find the back of the net for the two-time Copa America champions on his full debut for his country.

Bereton made his debut for Chile in the first game for his country at the ongoing Copa America tournament on Brazilian soil. He came on as a substitute in the final quarter of the game with Argentina which ended in a 1-1 draw in Group A. The Blackburn Rovers striker was then named in the starting XI for Chile in their second Group A encounter with the Bolivians and it didn’t take long for him to hit the back of the net.

BLACKBURN GET SIGNIFICANT SUMMER TRANSFER BOOST

Blackburn Rovers have had themselves a major transfer boost after recent reports emerged that one of their transfer targets is free and available for a move this summer as long as the right offer comes in for him. The Rovers manager Tony Mowbray has revealed that he is very keen to sign new defensive reinforcements and has said he will be delighted if he can sign a left-back in the summer transfer market.

Since making that statement, Blackburn have started being linked to the signing of Freiburg star Chima Okoroji. The German Bundesliga club’s left-back has been attracting a couple of suitors since the last months because of his fine performances for his club and he is now recognized as one of the major signings Blackburn would love to complete as soon as the transfer window is officially open.
